Photo Niche

The Photo Gallery option is a based on the powerful and popular open-source application Gallery2.   With the inclusion of the X_treme theme from Pedro Gilberto your Gallery becomes more than just a collection of photos.    Without stepping away from the photo-oriented gallery presentation, X_treme allows you to add a custom “fly-leaf” to the front page of each album.  Describe the techniques used, explain the setting or the tools used, promote your experience and expertise in the genre (especially good for wedding photographers), give credit to the models, or just brag about how good the photos look.  It’s your site, do what you want.

The Photo Gallery package is a more complex option than the Photo Blog, but it also offers far more control, as well as features that are centered specifically on photography.   The standard install comes with over 50 different plug-ins which add features such as:

• Graphics toolkits: do simple manipulations such as crop, rotate, and resize right in your gallery
• E-commerce: Sell prints or digital downloads, or partner with an online-printing store.
• Hidden albums: Decide who gets to see which albums–great for showing proofs to a client or keeping your boudoir photos separate from your wedding photos
• RSS feed:  alert people to updates without having to do any work.
• Sitemap:  Generate a Google sitemap to help you rank higher on internet search engines.
• Upload options: choose any of 8 different ways to upload new images to your gallery–including FTP or straight from your XP desktop.
• EXIF:  Automatically include full EXIF data for all your photos.
• Security & convenience: simple slidesows, mulitple size views, thumbnail views, right-click disabling, and automatic watermarking.

Photo Gallery is for the serious photography–or model–who wants to put in the time to create a site that does more than just show off photos.
